Analysis : The Magic just beat the Celtics last night, but I don’t expect any kind of letdown as they host the New Orleans Hornets on Monday. The Hornets have not played that well on the road this year and they have really struggled with Chris Paul out of the line up. New Orleans is only 11-16 on the road this season to begin with, but throw in the fact that they’ve lost 3 of their last 4 with their best player on the bench and you have a strong reason to play against them.

Analysis : Every year you hear that “defenses wins Championships,” but this season the Super Bowl features the two most explosive offenses in the NFL. The Colts offense is led by veteran QB Manning and averaging 25.9 points and 363.1 yards per game while scoring at least 27 points in 6 of their 8 road efforts this year. In fact, we find the Saints defense allowing 22 points or more in 5 of their 8 road games and posting a 10-2 Over/Under record against teams averaging 350 or more offensive yards per game behind Head Coach Sean Payton! On the other side of the ball, the Saints offense is led by QB Drew Brees and averaging an incredible 32.6 points per game. Don’t expect these high powered offenses to slow down on the road in Miami this Sunday as both of these squads were 7-1 SU on the road this year. The Saints went “Over” the Total in both of their Playoff games while putting up 76 points in the postseason, beating Arizona 45-14 and Minnesota 31-28.

Analysis : I had a huge release earlier this week with Northwestern at home against these Wolverines but am going to side with them in this big home battle with Bo Ryans Wisconsin Badgers. I’m certain most of the public will love the Badgers here with the convincing victory over Michigan State still fresh in their minds. Couple that with the drubbing Michigan suffered in Evanston and it looks like easy money, right? I am not convinced, not one bit. If Michigan wants to salvage this season and make some headway toward a possible NIT bid they need to hold down home court in the stretch run of the conference season. I look for Michigan to bounce back with a strong effort at home and knock off the Badgers in a close, physical game.

Analysis : The Bulls opened a seven-game road trip back on January 18 and promptly lost the first two games. However, they then finished by winning the final five games of the trip with each win coming against a team with a winning record. No big deal you say? Well that’s the first time in NBA a history a team had won five consecutive road games over opponents with winning records. Before getting too excited about the Bulls, let’s note they returned home from that trip and lost 90-82 to the hapless Clippers on Tuesday. They then had their road streak snapped Wednesday in Philadelphia against a team which entered that contest with a 7-16 home record. Same old Bulls. Rose (19.9-3.7-5.9) is a terrific PG and small forward Deng (17.7-7.4) has bounced back nicely from an “off year” but still, it’s hard to count on the Bulls. Noah’s (11.2-12.0) had a “breakout season” but he’s being shut down through All-Star break. He will miss at least four games due to plantar fasciitis. “It’s frustrating,” Noah said. “I can’t move the way I want to.” The Bulls are just 9-16 overall on the road this year (12-13 ATS) and will face one of the league’s best home teams in the Hawks. Atlanta is 20-5 SU (17-8 ATS) in Phillips Arena and in Chicago’s last visit (Dec 9), routed the Bulls 118-83. Jamal Crawford (17.6) has been a HUGE addition, joining Johnson (22.0-4.7-4.7) and veteran PG Bibby (8.9-4.2 APG) on the perimeter. Smith (15.0-8.4) and Williams (10.2-5.1) join center Horford (13.4-9.5) up front, giving the Hawks an outstanding six-man rotation. Atlanta’s depth isn’t half-bad either. The Bulls average just 95.4 PPG (27th) and will have trouble keeping up with the Hawks here, as Atlanta has averaged 106.5 PPG at its home floor.

Analysis : A few weeks ago we called for Virginia Tech to sneak out of Chapel Hill with a win but North Carolina was able to overcome a stunning loss to the College of Charleston and hold off the Hokies in a 14-point decision. However, that won’t stop us from coming right back with the Gobblers in today’s rematch. Not only is Seth Greenberg’s squad playing excellent basketball (16-4 this season), the Hokies have ruled at Cassell Coliseum, compiling a spotless 10-0 SU mark this season. They’re also 7-3 ATS with same-season double-digit loss revenge (5-1 ATS at home) and have visited the pay window in eight of their last twelve meetings with UNC. Back the Hokies tonight.
